Connect with your little inner child πŸ‘§πŸ§’πŸ‘¦

blog

I am writing this currently sitting at an old table, eating scrambled eggs and avocado having a late breakfast while I listen to the birds looking over a lake.

The lake where I basically grew up from a little girl to a teen.

I am back in my hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada hanging out with 3 girls that I went to private school with. I am also here to see my parents and brother and sister as it’s been over 3 years.

However, these girls, one of them I have not seen in over 30 years, and yet, it’s like time has stood still.

The memories, the laughter, the lightness… it's changing my cells ✨

We decided to do a tour of our old homes and take pictures in front of them as they held soooooo many memories and foundations of why we are who we are today.

First kisses, high school dances, suntanning in the park.

We went to our school to take a picture outside and ended up on an hour tour. I went to a private girls' school so it was small and old, think Hogwarts πŸ§™‍♂️ lol.

While there has been a ton of construction, there are buildings that remain the same.  The old gym is still there and remains with all the artwork that was there when I did gym in grade 5.

The headmaster's office sits untouched, the smell of the room, and the creepy stairs…brought me back.

I swear I became 10, 11, 14, and 16 again!  Looking at our grad photo and laughing hysterically at our outfits and hair we could not help but be overcome with emotions.

My brain just kept thinking…“how was this 34 years ago??”  “How am I a parent with my 3 kids 17, 19, and 20?”

Did I know then what was in store for me in life?  The good, the great, the scary?

No…I just took life…day by day.

There is a lot more to this that I will dive into on a podcast because the lessons are powerful and if you know me, I love a good life lesson wrapped in a story!!

What I want to leave you with today is an ask.

Can you get back to your hometown?  If you live close you totally can.  Go sit outside your high school and stand in the place you told your friends about your first crush.  Go by the 7-11 where you used to ride your bike for a Slurpee (maybe that’s just a Winnipeg thing πŸ˜‚lol)

Go to the place you had your first job or drive by your home when you were little…

Think about life then...

Think about what made you happy then...

Think about how you felt then…

Like you had a lifetime ahead of you

Not thinking all the time about “what if”

Not comparing yourself to others

Not spending more time looking at a screen and following others' lives than being so excited to go play with your friends

I’d love to know what this brings up for you if anything.  If you have maybe done this before?  Or if you now plan to?

We are calling it the Long Time Ago Tour and it is JUST what my soul needed in this season of growth in my life.

Not to become different …To go back to being who I am at my coreπŸ’•

Love you
